SUMMARY:CASI Quarterly Training: Charter Authorizing Oversight Best Practices
DESCRIPTION:CASI Quarterly Trainings are virtual technical assistance sessions on a topic of authorizing responsibility\, with opportunities for authorizers to collaborate with colleagues across the state. \nThe January 2025 CASI Quarterly Training will be presented on Charter Authorizing Oversight Best Practices. California Education Code Section 47604.32 lists 5 things authorizers must do as their oversight duties. But\, is that all that an authorizer should do? What are the best practices around charter authorizing oversight? What are annual visits and annual reports? Does oversight look different for different types of charter schools: non-classroom based\, Dashboard Alternative School Status (DASS)\, locally-funded\, charter management organization members\, etc.? What do you do if charter authorizing is only one part of your regular duties?
