In some charter school’s English learner (EL) students are statistically under-enrolled relative to other public schools. Yet English learners enrolled in charter school often achieve better overall academic outcomes than in other schools.

The presenters will review the implied challenges and opportunities for authorizing and good practices with serving EL students generally, including school plans for racial and ethnic balance, barriers to enrollment, engagement of EL families, serving EL students with equity, and integrated EL instructional support.
