The National Network for District Authorizing (NN4DA) is a national collaboration of state-based authorizer organizations like CCAP and other state-level agencies and initiatives dedicated to strengthening charter school authorizing by school districts and, in California’s case, county offices of education. NN4DA develops practical tools, research, and technical assistance to support high-quality authorizing practices and improve outcomes for innovative charter school models, authorizers, and the students and communities they serve.
Network Launch
In late 2021, CCAP, the Colorado Association of Charter School Authorizers (CACSA), and the Florida Association of Charter School Authorizers (FACSA), launched the National Network for District Authorizing (NN4DA), to support state-level initiatives working to strengthen the charter school authorizing practices of their local school districts. The national network, starting with the three founding partner organizations, has been the recipient of three federal Charter School Program grants to support this work.
Free Webinars
The NN4DA also offers free webinars on a variety of pivotal issues nationally for authorizers, including updates the federal government and their potential impact on authorizing, national legal and policy developments, and authorizing innovations, practices, and trends.
Best Practices
The NN4DA provides a forum for sharing best practices in authorizing that can be tailored to each state’s charter school regulations to develop model materials and trainings for school districts and other local authorizers.

Information and registration for upcoming webinars and links to previous webinars are available on the NN4DA’s website—nn4da.org. That’s also the place to check out the NN4DA’s news updates, blog posts, and information on upcoming events.
Working with more states!
The NN4DA partners with additional state agencies, state-based associations, or other state-based initiatives that share its goals of strengthening charter authorizing by school districts. The NN4DA network is looking to connect with leaders in additional states where school districts are involved in charter school authorizing to explore ways other states can join this effort, receive national support, and maybe even become a new full member Primary State Partner, like the Wisconsin Resource Center for Charter Schools (WRCCS). So far the NN4DA also is supporting initiatives in Maryland and Tennessee. CCAP and its fellow partners in the NN4DA also invite all advocates of strong public education to join us in this important work and to support these initiatives to improve district authorizing practices.
