On March 11, 2020, CCAP held a one-day event where charter authorizers, educational policy experts/leaders, and stakeholder group representatives gathered in person, via teleconference, or a web-based platform to review the importance of effective charter school authorizing. At the center of the conversation was the focus of ensuring quality education for all students. The group also reviewed current barriers to improving authorizer practice and discussed CCAP’s roadmap to supporting high quality authorizing in California. Additionally, the convening concluded with an invitation for all participants to collaborate in CCAP’s new endeavor, Charter Authorizing 2.0 (CA2.0) aimed at developing new charter school authorizing structures and tools over the next eighteen months.
