2020-21 Renewals for Authorizing Boards (video)
If your district or county office authorizes charter schools that are up for renewal during the 2020-2021 or 2021-2022 school year, you are confronted with a perfect storm of complications. Assembly Bill 1505 has changed the legal landscape for renewal decisions but left authorizers with unanswered questions. And that was before the COVID-19 pandemic upended the education world, depriving authorizers of important school performance data and shifting the focus of many stakeholders to crisis management. CCAP hosted an online workshop for authorizing boards to discuss the challenges of conducting charter school renewals during the 2020-21 school year.
