Indra Ciccarelli, director of the charter schools office for the Los Angeles County Office of Education, received the inaugural Authorizer Exemplar Award for an individual authorizing staff or board member who has helped his or her organization develop and implement one or more particularly promising and/or excellent authorizing practices. Indra also serves on CCAP’s board of directors.
Colleagues praised Indra’s passion for ensuring that charter schools provide all students with access to excellent and equal educational opportunities through strong, fair, and transparent oversight. They also recognized his openness to new ideas and to collaboration.

As previously reported here, Corey Loomis, charter school director for the Riverside County Office of Education and a former CCAP board member, was the inaugural recipient of the Local Exemplar Award awarded by NN4DA, the National Network for District Authorizing. That award was presented last October at NN4DA’s annual meeting, held in conjunction with the annual conference of NACSA, the National Association of Charter School Authorizers, in Oakland. CCAP also wanted to give California’s authorizers a chance to celebrate Corey’s award at their own annual gathering.
