Improving Education for Multilingual and English Learner Students: Research to Practice
Helping English learners become fluent in English and successful in school requires a whole-child approach that includes social-emotional practices, such as respecting students’ cultures and recognizing the cultural, social, educational, and economic benefits of bilingualism. This book provides examples of evidence-based multilingual instruction from transitional kindergarten through 12th grade. It also describes the goals and approaches for different types of English learner programs such as dual-language immersion and two-way bilingual immersion and shows what different approaches look like in the classroom.
