The California Department of Education (CDE) has announced LEA initial reporting of the use of Coronavirus Relief (CR) Funds from March 1, 2020 to June 30, 2020 has been suspended. LEAs are asked NOT to submit their reports on the California Department of Finance (DOF) Grant Portal by this Friday, September 11, as previously required, and await further directions regarding when and how to report the use of funds.

The original reporting requirements, set forth in the CDE notification letter available at the link below, were for LEAs to include obligations and expenditures incurred, even if the CR funds were not yet expended — or even received — by the LEA. The requirements and timeline still are important information for authorizers and their authorized charter schools to be aware of and track. The list of CR fund allocations to LEAs can be downloaded below.

CDE also still encourages LEAs to acquire a DUNS number at the link below and to register their DUNS number with the System for Award Management website, also below.

Questions can be submitted to CDE at CARESAct@cde.ca.gov.

Authorizers may wish to consider reinforcing the message about the requirements and about this temporary pause with their authorized schools, which have been and are preoccupied with the start of the school year under challenging conditions this year.
