The 2019 legislative session has seen the most extensive change to California’s charter school law since its original passage in 1992. The majority of the changes are contained in five bills; SB 126, AB 1505, AB 1507, SB 75 and AB 967 (awaiting action by the Governor).

Over the next few weeks there will be many “bill summaries” that will provide an explanation of what is included in each bill. California Charter Authorizing Professionals (CCAP) will be providing guidance tailored to meet the needs of charter district and county authorizing professionals, superintendents and board members. Our guidance will help with each part of the charter lifecycle; charter petition review – approval and denial, oversight of existing charters and the renewal/non-renewal decision. We will also provide additional support through workshops and online trainings.
