Assembly Bill 1505 has changed the legal landscape for renewal decisions but left authorizers with unanswered questions. And that was before the COVID-19 pandemic upended the education world, depriving authorizers of important school performance data and shifting the focus of many stakeholders to crisis management.
CCAP held two online charter school renewal workshops to assist district and county office authorizers and board members understand the implications of these changes and how they bear on the renewal decisions. Also, a planning tool was shared that could assist in preparing for 2020/21  and 2021/2022 renewals.
